Description

Description: The dataset "Young Family" was designed to analyse the effects of a change in paternal leave and benefits regulations effective from 01 January 2007 (Bundeselterngeld- und Elternzeitgesetz, BEEG). To that end, recipients of parental benefits filled in paper questionnaires. Apart from regional information such as state and municipality size, the data includes information on the duration of parental benefit receipt, employment status and income of both parents as well as plans for future childcare. In addition, basic socio-demographic characteristics, such as age, nationality and receipt of state transfers, are included.

Note: This dataset is part of a two-part survey which depicts the behaviour of recipients of parental benefits in 2008 and 2009. This dataset refers to the 2008 wave.
